Niceville named 2022 Safest City in Florida

NICEVILLE, Fla. – The City of Niceville has been named the Safest City in Florida for 2022 by Safewise, an online resource that provides tools and information to help people make their life safer at home and in their community.

Niceville is the only community in our area to be named to the Safewise Top 50 Safest Cities list in Florida this year. The City of Weston was ranked behind Niceville, followed by Parkland, Sebastian, and Marco Island.

Here is the top 10 list of Safest Cities in Florida for 2022:

  4. Sebastian
  5. Marco Island
  6. North Palm Beach
  7. Oviedo
  8. Wellington

Among other things, Safewise said cities were ranked based on formulas utilizing FBI crime data and the following:

  • Median income and poverty data
  • High school graduation rates
  • Redlining practices
  • Household access to high-speed internet
  • City budget allocations
  • Unemployment rates

Population: 16,345

Median Income: $76,823

Violent Crime Rate 2022, 2021, 2020: 0.6, 0.7, 1.5

Property Crime Rate 2022, 2021, 2020: 2.9, 12.8, 12.0
