Fly your patriotism high: The Kiwanis Club of Niceville-Valparaiso’s Flag Display Program helps raise funds for youth scholarships and civic programs while providing local residents an easy way to display the American flag at their homes. (Dennis Gilson)
NICEVILLE, Fla. — Show your patriotism and support local youth programs by joining the Kiwanis Club of Niceville-Valparaiso’s American Flag Display Program. This longstanding home flag-flying tradition gives residents a simple way to honor the nation’s patriotic holidays while making a meaningful impact in the community.
For $50 per year—a tax-deductible contribution—the club will fly an American flag at participating homes on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents’ Day, Memorial Day through Independence Day (including Flag Day and Juneteenth), Labor Day through Sept. 11, and Veterans Day. The updated service fee reflects an increase for 2025.
Participants do not need to own a flag or install a flagpole. The Kiwanis Club provides the 3×5-foot sewn flag, installs it before each holiday period, removes it afterward, and handles all maintenance and storage.
The flags are flown on metal poles inserted into PVC in-ground holders, which are installed using a handheld power auger to prevent lawn damage.
“Our American Flag Display Program is our biggest fundraiser,” said JD Cameron, President-Elect of the Kiwanis Club of Niceville-Valparaiso.
“With its proceeds, we are able to serve the children of Niceville and Valparaiso.”
Funds raised through the program help support youth-oriented civic initiatives, including public service programs for elementary, middle, and high school students in the community.
Interested participants can sign up by visiting this link, or emailing nvkiwanis1@gmail.com with their name, address, and phone number. A club member will respond within two business days.
