Niceville homeowners may be eligible for no cost home repairs

The City of Niceville is seeking homeowners to participate in a Housing Rehabilitation program to assist eligible homeowners with repairs. The program is designed to perform general code related repairs and improvements for very low and low and moderate-income homeowners.

NICEVILLE, Fla. — The City of Niceville is seeking homeowners to participate in a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Housing Rehabilitation program to assist eligible homeowners with repairs.

The program is designed to perform general code related repairs and improvements for very low and low and moderate-income homeowners.

Items eligible for repair include roofs, heating systems, plumbing, electrical and other code related housing systems at no cost to the homeowner.

Currently, the City has funds available to assist a limited number of homeowners. Homeowners must meet ALL of the following eligibility requirements:

  1. Live in the City limits of Niceville;
  2. Own your home, and it is the primary residence;
  3. Total household income is BELOW the amount listed below (the number of people living in the household determine household income levels):

  • 1 –  $40,450
  • 2 –  $46,200
  • 3 –  $52,000
  • 4 –  $57,750
  • 5 –  $62,400
  • 6 –  $67,000
  • 7 –  $71,650
  • 8 –  $76,250

To be considered for assistance, eligible homeowners should attend a meeting scheduled to be held on Wednesday, Sept. 18, 6 p.m., in the City Council Chambers at Niceville City Hall, 208 N. Partin Drive. The meeting will address the application process, program requirements, and answer any homeowner questions.

Application packages will be available at the meeting.

For those unable to attend, applications packages will be available by request after Sept. 18. Applications can them be picked up in person at City Hall or by mail by calling (877) 309-1951 ext. 15.

October 18, 2019, is the deadline for submitting completed application packages to the Panama City Beach firm, Summit Professional Services.

The Niceville City Council will review, rank, and approve applications.
