City of Niceville celebrates Government Week with community events

Local city-sponsored events include a meet and greet with city personnel and representatives from several local businesses and organizations; tours of the library and children’s park; and a Turkey Creek Nature Trail walk with City Manager Lannie Corbin.

The City of Niceville will be joining cities across the state in celebrating Florida City Government Week from October 23-29, 2017 by holding community events and engaging with city residents.

“We are excited about Florida City Government Week and hope to engage all residents in our upcoming events,” said City Manager Lannie Corbin.  “This is an opportunity to help our residents become more informed about the many services we provide, which will lead to more knowledgeable citizen participation in the future.”

Because city government is the government closest to most citizens, and the one with the most direct daily impact on its residents, it is important that residents understand how their city operates, the services it provides, and the importance of their active involvement.  The theme, “My City:  “I’m Part of It,” will guide this year’s activities.

 

GOVERNMENT WEEK EVENTS IN NICEVILLE

Thursday, October 26, 5:30 pm-7:30 pm

  • The Niceville Community Center will host an informative meet & greet with the city administration, various city departments and several businesses and organizations.
  • The Niceville Public Library and Children’s Park will host tours of their facilities.

  • Walk the Turkey Creek Nature Trail with the City Manager and City Council

Florida City Government Week, sponsored by the Florida League of Cities, is a time to showcase cities and recognize the significant role played by city government in the lives of its citizens.  The League is the official organization of the municipal governments in Florida, designed and established to meet and serve the needs of Florida’s cities and their citizens.
