NICEVILLE, Fla. — The Niceville City Council will meet in a special session on February 19 to interview and select a candidate to fill a vacancy on the city council.
The meeting is at 6 p.m. in the Niceville City Council Chambers at 208 Partin Drive North. The meeting will be in a workshop setting.
The public is invited to attend.
Four Niceville residents are vying to fill the vacancy: Suraj Patel, Kristen Shell, Douglas Tolbert, and Doug Stauffer.
On January 9, 2024, Councilman Abner Williams announced his resignation, creating the vacancy. The deadline for applying for the position was January 26.
“If any person decides to appeal any decision made with respect to any matter considered at such meeting, such person will need a record of the proceeding and, for such purpose, such person may need to ensure that a verbatim record of the proceeding is made, which record includes the testimony and evidence upon which the appeal is based,” the city said in an announcement.
