FLORIDA – A Miami-area man has been sentenced to federal prison for a multi-city methamphetamine distribution conspiracy, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Florida has announced.
Hector Enrique Veliz Villeda, 31, of Hialeah, has been sentenced to six years and six months in federal prison for conspiracy to distribute 500 grams or more of methamphetamine by U.S. District Judge Steven D. Merryday.
Veliz Villeda pleaded guilty on October 20, 2022.
According to court documents, in June and July 2022, Veliz Villeda and others were part of a methamphetamine distribution conspiracy moving kilogram quantities of high-purity methamphetamine throughout cities located in the Middle District of Florida, the Southern District of Florida, and the Northern District of Alabama.
Veliz Villeda reportedly received shipments of high-purity methamphetamine from a coconspirator in Birmingham, Alabama, and subsequently transported the methamphetamine into the Miami and Tampa metropolitan areas for resale.
According to court documents, on June 14, 2022, at his home in Hialeah, Veliz Villeda obtained high-purity crystal methamphetamine from a coconspirator in Alabama. Later, he reportedly sold the drugs to a confidential source in Bradenton. On July 14, 2022, Veliz Villeda is said to have again traveled from Hialeah to Bradenton and sold more high-purity crystal methamphetamine he had received from coconspirators.
This case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration, the United States Postal Inspection Service, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), the Bradenton Police Department, and the Florida Highway Patrol. It was being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney David W.A. Chee.
