Military exercise to include high speed boats, blank ammunition fire

DESTIN, Fla. – The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO) has announced a military training exercise is scheduled to take place the night of March 26 that will involve boats going into and out of the area of the Destin Coast Guard Station and the Crab Island area at high speeds.

The exercise is set to begin at 9 p.m.

UPDATE: This exercise has been canceled.

Blank ammunition fire may be heard during the exercise, the OCSO said.
