NICEVILLE, Fla — The Florida Department of Health on Wednesday reported 24 newly confirmed COVID-19 cases in Okaloosa County. There are four new cases in Niceville and Valparaiso.

The cumulative number of COVID-19 cases in Okaloosa is 20,526.
The FDOH reports the total number of people killed by COVID-19 in Okaloosa is 361, no change since the previous report.
Statewide, 4,394 new cases were reported by the FDOH. The current cumulative total is 2,253,929. The total number of Florida residents who have died from COVID-19 in the state is 35,478.
The cumulative number of hospitalizations in Okaloosa is 737, no change since the previous day. Currently, there are 15 COVID-19 patients in Okaloosa County hospitals.
According to the FDOH, since the previous report, there were 445 test results returned in Okaloosa with 23 positives. The daily positivity rate is 5.17 percent.
According to the FDOH, Okaloosa’s weekly positivity rate is 5.53 percent for the week ending May 2, down from 6.17 percent the previous week.
Florida’s current weekly positivity rate is 8.0 percent (7-day moving average) according to Johns Hopkins University Coronavirus Resource Center data.
