Dubbed “Operation Fall Harvest,” the mass search focused on locating and removing contraband while sending a clear message of zero tolerance for illegal activity within the facility. The effort involved the FDC, Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE), Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), and the Suwannee County Sheriff’s Office.

“Our staff conduct operations such as these throughout the year to target dangerous contraband and keep our facilities safe. What makes today unique is the ability to include our tremendous partners in this endeavor,” said FDC Secretary Ricky Dixon.

The operation reportedly resulted in the seizure of significant contraband, including 59 weapons, 25 cellphone chargers, seven cellphones, and various cellphone accessories.

Officers also confiscated 19 gallons of homemade alcohol, 44 grams of methamphetamine, 13 grams of synthetic marijuana, 26 grams of THC, one THC vape pen, and $300 in cash, the FDC said. Additionally, security tools such as three security bits and an Allan wrench were recovered.

“Having a secure prison system is crucial, not only for correctional officers and inmates but also for keeping our Florida communities safe, said FDLE Commissioner Mark Glass.

“FDLE is proud to partner with FDC and FHP to ensure Florida prisons are safe for everyone.”

The operation included FDC Contraband Interdiction Unit K9 Teams, Rapid Response Teams, Community Corrections (Probation) Officers, FDLE Special Agents, FHP Troopers, and Suwannee County deputies. The collaborative event targeted not only contraband within the facility but also the criminal networks trafficking and transporting these items.
