NICEVILLE, Fla — The Florida Department of Health on Saturday reported 28 newly confirmed COVID-19 cases in Okaloosa County.
The cumulative number of COVID-19 cases in Okaloosa is 19,427.
The FDOH reports the total number of people killed by COVID-19 in Okaloosa is 339, no change since the previous report.
Statewide, 5,244 new cases were reported by the FDOH. The current cumulative total is 1,973,109. The total number of Florida residents who have died from COVID-19 in the state is 32,225.
The cumulative number of hospitalizations in Okaloosa is 694, one more since the previous day. Currently, there are 11 COVID-19 patients in Okaloosa County hospitals.
According to the FDOH, since the previous report, there were 523 test results returned in Okaloosa with 28 positives. The daily positivity rate is 5.35 percent.
As a rule of thumb, the threshold for the percent positive being “too high” is five percent according to the Centers for Disease Control.
According to the FDOH, Okaloosa’s weekly positivity rate is 11.26 percent for the week ending March 6, down from 12.22 percent the previous week.
Florida’s current weekly positivity rate is 5.8 percent (7-day moving average) according to Johns Hopkins University Coronavirus Resource Center data.
