FLORIDA — A drug dealer from Charlotte County has been sentenced to over a decade in prison.
On Friday, U.S. District Judge Thomas P. Barber sentenced John Alton Knight, Jr., 58, Port Charlotte, to 12 years in federal prison for possession of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute it.
Mr Knight entered a guilty plea on April 26, 2023.
On August 9, 2022, Mr Knight was arrested by the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office for possession of over 2,700 grams of methamphetamine and 49 grams of fentanyl.
Deputies reportedly found evidence showing Knight’s intention to distribute the drugs, including a scale, plastic baggies, a drug-cutting agent, and vacuum-sealed bags.
The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office and the Drug Enforcement Administration looked into this case. Mark Morgan, an assistant United States attorney, prosecuted it.
