Lawmen reportedly seize multiple firearms, meth in Choctaw Beach

WALTON COUNTY, Fla.— A convicted felon wanted by law enforcement has been arrested after allegedly being found with several firearms and methamphetamine in a Choctaw Beach home.

According to the Walton County Sheriff’s Office, while executing a warrant for a wanted suspect, lawmen seized nine firearms and more than 16 grams of methamphetamine on Monday night.

On April 17, the U.S. Marshals Florida Caribbean Regional Fugitive Task Force served a warrant for Shaun McBay on Darrell Court in Choctaw Beach. They allegedly discovered a shotgun in plain view sticking out from under the suspect’s bed and numerous paraphernalia items throughout the home.

U.S. Marshals seized the weapon during the arrest.

As a result, the Walton County Sheriff’s Office VICE/Narcotics unit obtained a search warrant for the property, and eight additional firearms were discovered along with methamphetamine, the WCSO said.

Nine total firearms, hundreds of rounds of ammunition, and 16.1 g of methamphetamine were reportedly seized by investigators along with a 2008 Yamaha R1 that McBay is alleged to have used to flee deputies on multiple occasions during the commission of felonies within Walton County, the WCSO said.

McBay was arrested on multiple counts of possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, trafficking methamphetamine, possession of ammunition by a convicted felon, possession of drug paraphernalia, reckless driving, and driving with a suspended license (habitual).

His bond was set at $50,000.

The USMS Florida Caribbean Regional Fugitive Task Force comprises units from the Walton County Sheriff’s Office, Bay County Sheriff’s Office, Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office, Panama City Police Department, U.S. Customs and Border Patrol, and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
