January 29 COVID-19, vaccination report for Okaloosa, Niceville

NICEVILLE, Fla — The Florida Department of Health on Friday reported 113 newly confirmed COVID-19 cases in Okaloosa County. There are 14 new cases in Niceville and Valparaiso.

The FDOH reports 797 people received vaccinations in Okaloosa County on Thursday. The cumulative number of people vaccinated in Okaloosa is 15,298, and 1,297 people have completed the vaccination series.

The cumulative number of COVID-19 cases in Okaloosa is 16,515.

The FDOH reports the total number of people killed by COVID-19 in Okaloosa is 284, one more death since the previous day.

Statewide, 10,976 new cases were reported by the FDOH. The current cumulative total is 1,698,570. The total number of Florida residents who have died from COVID-19 in the state is 26,254.

The cumulative number of hospitalizations in Okaloosa is 617, three since the previous day. Currently, there are 56 COVID-19 patients in Okaloosa County hospitals.

According to the FDOH, there were 413 test results returned in Okaloosa Thursday with 118 positives. The daily positivity rate is 28.57 percent.

As a rule of thumb, the threshold for the percent positive being “too high” is five percent according to the Centers for Disease Control.

According to the FDOH, Okaloosa’s weekly positivity rate is 19.96 percent for the week ending January 23, down from 21.79 percent the previous week.

Florida’s current weekly positivity rate is 10.0 percent (7-day moving average) according to Johns Hopkins University Coronavirus Resource Center data.
