“We have needed help in the past at Christmas and were fortunate enough to have wonderful people bless our family with presents, food, and gift cards,” said Brytney Bundren, who is organizing the effort with the support of her husband, Chris, and their five children.

“We want to pay it forward and help as many kids and their parents as we can.”

Bundren has launched a Facebook Page, Holiday Happiness Niceville, to coordinate the effort and match local donors with eligible recipients.

“No child should wake up Christmas morning with nothing, and no parent should struggle to put a holiday meal on the table,” she said.

Here’s how the program works:

RECIPIENTS
People living in the Niceville area who would like to receive gifts and/or food should request an application by emailing Bundren at HolidayHappinessNiceville@gmail.com  Please put “RECIPIENT” in the subject line.

Anyone who would like to adopt a family should choose a family from the Holiday Happiness Niceville photo album: Adoptable Families at its Facebook Page and follow the instructions there. The album will be available once eligible recipients have completed their application. Check back often.

Bundren said she launched the Niceville drive after seeing similar successful efforts elsewhere. She is hopeful the drive will benefit up to 25 families this year. If successful this year, she is looking forward to expanding the drive throughout Okaloosa County in the coming years.
