Historic Florida Chautauqua Theater announces Holiday matinee series

DeFuniak Springs, Fla — The Florida Chautauqua Theater, located in Downtown DeFuniak Springs, has announced a Sunday Matinee Series. The first movies to be shown in the historic theater in over 35 years, the series will begin on Sunday, November 29, 2020, with a collection of holiday films beginning at 3 p.m. weekly. 

Seating will be limited for social distancing purposes.

Sponsored by Main Street DeFuniak Springs, the schedule includes:

November 29 – Polar Express

December 6 – The Grinch

December 13 – Disney’s A Christmas Carol

December 20 – A Christmas Story

Tickets are available for purchase in advance at fcweb.org. Cost is $10 for adults and $6 for children 12 and under. Remaining tickets will be available at the theater box office, located at 848 Baldwin Avenue, DeFuniak Springs, FL 32435 prior to the start of the show.

The lineup of family-friendly films was specifically selected to encourage the beginning of new holiday traditions. Guests are encouraged to make it an afternoon outing. Watch a movie, enjoy a meal at a selection of area eateries, shop local businesses and once the sun sets enjoy the sites of Christmas Reflections, hosted by the City of DeFuniak Springs around Lake DeFuniak’s Chipley Park.

The holiday Sunday Matinee Series is the beginning of new events guests can look forward to at the Florida Chautauqua Theater. Funded solely through private donations and grants, the Florida Chautauqua Theater is seeking additional sponsors for the 2021 calendar year. Sponsorships and movie screen advertising are available.
