Geek Lights in Bluewater begins December 3

Geek Lights on the Corner in Bluewater Bay consists of Christmas lights and Christmas-themed characters and colorful displays, all under computer control and synchronized to Holiday music.  Each show opens with a story to set the mood, followed by 25 minutes of music and dancing lights.

Geek Lights on the Corner in Bluewater Bay, a Christmas lights and music show that brings Christmas magic to Niceville each Yuletide, begins its 2018 Christmas season on December 3 with nightly performances which will continue through Jan. 6.

The free Christmastime performances take place at the corner of Bluewater Blvd. and Antiqua Way in Bluewater. Shows begin on the hour and half hour starting at 6 p.m., with the last show starting at 10 p.m. Sunday-Thursday, and 11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.

The festive Yuletide show consists of Christmas lights and Christmas-themed characters and colorful displays, all under computer control and synchronized to Holiday music.  Each show opens with a story to set the mood, followed by 25 minutes of music and dancing lights.

This year marks its 11th season in Niceville.

The 2018 donation recipient is Helping Hands House of the Crestview Area Shelter for the Homeless. There will be a collection box in the viewing area throughout the season, with 100 percent of the money collected going to Helping Hands House. Last year, over $2,600 was raised for cancer research.

The Geek Lights Bluewater show is the technical wizardry of Jeff Werner, the “Northwest Florida Geek” and Wendy Werner, his “Spouse Peripheral.”

Volunteers of all ages help build and set up the  Christmas display each year. The 2018 build days are Nov. 3, 17 and 24, beginning at 9 a.m. each day. This is an event for people of all abilities. There’s no climbing or heavy lifting involved, and no technology more complicated than plugging in a cord. Organizers provide lunch, and drinks.
