From the commander: Memorial Day message

By Brig. Gen. Scott Cain

EGLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. — Memorial Day is fast approaching.  As we all prepare to enjoy the long weekend and time away from work, let us not forget the reason behind it – to honor and remember the brave and enduring legacy of those Americans who gave their lives to this great nation.  We are duty-bound to ensure that their sacrifices were not made in vain and that we learn from the lessons their sacrifice has taught us.

The past year has been challenging for us as a nation – forcing us to take a hard look at our past, to re-shape our present and to re-define our future all at once.  We have seen difficulty before and been challenged before and we have risen to those challenges and forged a legacy of freedom, strength, and hope.  We will continue the work our brothers and sisters started, and we will stand and defend the freedoms and beliefs that they fought and died for.

As the 96th Test Wing, a vital component of the world’s greatest Air Force, our mission and vision have never been clearer or more important.  Take time to review them with your team, to talk about your unit’s mission and vision and how we can all work together more effectively and efficiently to achieve success.

“E Sempre L’Ora”… It is ALWAYS the hour…

  • To focus relentlessly on the warfighter and to deliver them the best capabilities…faster.
  • To focus on one another, and our commitment to dignity and respect for all.
  • To remember those who have gone before us and honor their sacrifices through our service.

Michelle and I want to wish you and your families a safe and happy Memorial Day weekend.

Stay safe and stay connected.
