Frios Gourmet Pops opening in Niceville

Frios Gourmet Pops features more than 70 flavors of fruit and milk-based pops. All of the pops made by Frios are sweetened with organic sugar, agave, or locally produced honey.  A Frios Niceville store opens next week.

Update: Frios opened on June 9, 11 a.m.

It may be hot outside, but Niceville will be chillin’ this summer with Frios Gourmet Pops, opening in the Palm Plaza early next month.

“We’re excited about our opening and becoming part of the Niceville community,” said Vic Stahl, General Manager of the new, locally-owned Frios. “We think Niceville will appreciate our locally-sourced ingredients and love our gourmet pops.”

Stahl said the Niceville store would open sometime between June 5-9, and a grand opening event would be held later in the month.

Frios Niceville store will be in the Palm Plaza.

Frios Gourmet Pops began in 2013 with a push cart in Gadsden, Ala. Founder Andy Harp told Niceville.com Frios would have 30 locations by the middle of next month.

“We are very humbled to have grown from a single cart to seven states and 30 stores over such a short period,” Harp said.

Harp attributes Frios’ success to local ingredients, a large variety of unique flavors, and “a group of chemistry and food geeks who love what we do.”

He pointed out that Frios sources milk from Alabama’s only organic dairy and just last week purchased 600 pounds of blueberries from a farm in Fairhope, about 100 miles from Niceville.

“We get our fruits from the freshest sources possible: small, nearby family farms.”

In all, Frios features more than 70 flavors of fruit and milk-based pops. Some are available year-round while others are seasonal. In addition to traditional flavors, Frios has many unique flavor combinations such as avocado-lime, blueberry lemonade, caramel sea salt, orange cream, strawberry mango, spicy pineapple (Jalapeño), and Watermelon Mojito.

All of the pops made by Frios are sweetened with organic sugar, agave, or locally produced honey. See the full menu here.

Harp said his team is constantly working on new flavors.

“We put a lot of time on the production side,” he said.

In addition to in-store sales from its Palm Plaza location next to Ruckel Properties (on the west end of the shopping center), Stahl said Frios Niceville would be on site with a push cart at many Niceville events and activities.
