THINGS TO DO

Fore Her set to host fall golf tournament

The money raised from this event will go directly to local individuals battling breast cancer, who are able to use the money to pay for their mortgage, car, utilities, medical expenses, a well deserved vacation after recovering from treatments or a last vacation with their families.

Fore Her, a nonprofit organization in Santa Rosa Beach, is teed up and ready to host the sixth annual Fore Her Golf Outing on Sept. 28 at the Santa Rosa Golf and Beach Club to raise money for local breast cancer patients.

“Each year this event grows and improves,” said Amy Walsh, founder of Fore Her. “Based on what we’re working on for this year, it’s an experience that’s going to top every year before it.”

Featuring Sandestin Real Estate, or SRE, as the presenting sponsor, the $110 fee per golfer includes breakfast, lunch, the green fee and a cart. But, attendees can expect even more, including a silent auction, food donated by Centennial Bank, beer samples from Grayton Beer Company, a chance to win a golf cart from Dixielectricar and an opportunity to compete for $1,000 in the third annual Helicopter Golf Ball Drop by Panhandle Helicopter.

“The cause supported by the Fore Her golf tournament is near and dear to our hearts here at SRE,” said Wendy Morton, the Director of Marketing for Sandestin Real Estate. “We are proud to be a sponsor and support this amazing organization that is such a valuable resource for those in need in our local community.”

“Breast cancer impacts people and their families in so many different way,” said Walsh. “We want finances to be one less thing on their plate while going through such a tough time.”

The annual golf outing started initially as a gathering of Walsh’s family to celebrate the memory of her mother and her aunt, who both lost their battles with breast cancer. But, remembering how financially taxing breast cancer was on their family, they transformed the event into a fundraiser, creating the Jeanette Hansen/Barb Schultz Golf Outing in Saginaw, Michigan.

“When I moved to the Emerald Coast, I wanted to continue this tradition but in a slightly different way,” said Walsh.

She transformed her family’s Michigan golf outing into an incredible nonprofit and used the golf outing as the main source of funds each year, growing the organization and event into what it is today.

Sponsorships for this event are still available, and to learn more about this event, sponsorships or how to register, please visit www.foreher.org/golf-outing or email info@thehivecreativeconsulting.com.

Fore Her is a 501(c)3 organization that was started in memory of Founder Amy Walsh’s mother and aunt, who both lost their battle with breast cancer. The Santa Rosa Beach based nonprofit works to financially assist local individuals battling breast cancer, allowing those battling to use the money in anyway they need–from paying the mortgage and utilities to taking a last vacation with their family.
