Drivers may encounter nighttime intermittent U.S. 98 east and westbound lane closures, Sunday, Oct. 22 through Thursday, Oct. 26, from 4 p.m. to 6 a.m. for paving operations.

Here is an aerial view of the U.S. 98 pedestrian underpass construction underway in Inlet Beach. In this photo of the northern portion of the underpass, crews are forming the stairs for access from street level to the tunnel. Also seen in this photo are crews at work constructing the new median area of the roadway. Next, crews will begin constructing the U.S. 98 median curb and gutter. Curb and gutter construction will require nighttime inside lane closures of the U.S. 98 east and westbound lanes near this intersection. These closures will occur between 8:30 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. One lane will remain open in each direction at all times. The work will begin this week and is expected to be completed later this month. The project is estimated to be completed in late 2023. (Contributed)
