Here is this week’s traffic advisory for Walton County:

— U.S. 98 Widening from Mack Bayou Road to County Road (C.R.) 30A
Drivers will encounter the following nighttime lane closures Sunday, Nov. 12 through Thursday, Nov. 16, between 7:30 p.m. and 6:30 a.m., to remove the low-profile barrier wall:

  • Intermittent inside lane closures on east and westbound U.S. 98 from West Hewett Road to C.R. 30A
  • Intermittent outside lane closures on westbound U.S. 98 from Goldsby Road to Mack Bayou Road
Signalization improvements are part of the U.S. 98 resurfacing project, from east of U.S. 331 to Peach Creek, in Walton County. Here is a look at crews installing a vehicle detection camera at the U.S. 98/County Road 283 intersection. The camera is mounted on the mast arm of the traffic signal to provide vehicle presence detection and traffic data collection used for signal timing. This $8.3 million project also includes resurfacing 4.5 miles of U.S. 98 from east of U.S. 331 to Peach Creek, constructing a westbound right-turn lane at Blakely Drew Boulevard, shoulder widening, drainage enhancements, and new signage and pavement markings. The project is estimated for completion later this year. (Contributed)
