Emerald Coast National Juried Fine Arts Exhibition underway in Niceville

NICEVILLE, Fla — The Mattie Kelly Art Center Galleries at Northwest Florida State College is pleased to present the 28th Annual Emerald Coast National Juried Fine Arts Exhibition. This year saw applicants from across the country in a variety of media. Overall, the applications express a strong desire for connection to the familiar.

The show runs August 29 through October 16, 2020. Attendance is free and open to the public. To make this exhibition more broadly accessible, the exhibition is available online for the first time in its history.

This year’s juror and judge of prizes is the esteemed Ndubuisi “Endy” Ezeluomba, PhD., Francoise Billion Richardson Curator of African Art at the New Orleans Museum of Art (NOMA) where he manages NOMA’s significant collection of traditional African art, which is considered one of the most important in a public museum in the United States. Dr. Ezeluomba began his work at NOMA after serving the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts in Richmond as the Andrew W. Mellon Curatorial Research Specialist in African Art.

The Mattie Kelly Arts Center Galleries are open to personal visitation in low numbers. The artwork has been spaced further apart than usual to encourage physical distancing. Appointments are recommended but not required. Guests are required to wear masks. There is a limit of five persons per gallery or fifteen persons in the building at a time.

To make an appointment, please call 850-729-6444 or email artgalleries@nwfsc.edu. Entry is free and everyone is welcome. Gallery Hours are: Monday – Friday: 10 a.m. –  4 p.m. and 90 minutes prior to most Mainstage and Sprint Theater Performances.
