Duval care company owner charged in $21,000 Medicaid fraud

DUVAL COUNTY, Fla. — The owner of a Duval County-based caregiving company has been arrested for allegedly defrauding Medicaid of nearly $21,000 through double billing and fraudulent charges for services not requested by a recipient.

According to Attorney General Ashley Moody’s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit (MFCU), Jasmine Victoria Stanley, the owner of Prestige Comfort Care, a personal care services provider for Medicaid recipients in Duval County, knowingly submitted false billings to the Florida Medicaid program.

The investigation reportedly revealed that Ms Stanley billed Medicaid for services not rendered and used an unqualified employee to provide care. These fraudulent practices allegedly led to a loss of nearly $21,000 to the state’s Medicaid program.

“This owner of a caregiving company intentionally double-billed the Florida Medicaid program for services not requested or rendered by the recipient,” said AG Moody.

“These fraudulent representations and charges resulted in nearly $21,000 in fraud for Florida Medicaid. Thanks to our Medicaid Fraud Control Unit, this owner is now arrested, and her scheme is shut down.”

According to the investigation, Stanley continued to bill Medicaid after her employment with the recipient had ended in late September 2023. The recipient’s father provided travel documents and communications, showing that the recipient did not require services during specific periods.

Ms Stanley has been charged with one count of Medicaid provider fraud over $10,000, a second-degree felony. If convicted, he faces up to 15 years in prison.

The MFCU will prosecute the case in partnership with State Attorney Melissa Nelson of the Fourth Judicial Circuit.
