DESTIN, Fla. — A traffic stop on a car speeding across Marler Bridge in Destin led to the arrests of two individuals on drug trafficking charges Thursday night, according to a press release from the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office.
Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office deputies spotted a white pickup truck with Illinois tags speeding in the westbound lanes of Highway 98 around 9:30 p.m., according to the report.
After the traffic stop, an OCSO K9 Unit arrived and conducted a free air sniff around the outside of the car. The K9 reportedly alerted to the odor of narcotics coming out of the vehicle.
Willie Carter,44, of Fort Walton Beach is charged with trafficking in fentanyl, trafficking in oxycodone, trafficking in methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Lace Melvin,31, of Destin is charged with trafficking in oxycodone, possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
