COVID cases continue to climb in Okaloosa

OKALOOSA COUNTY, Fla. – The Florida Department of Health reports that Okaloosa County recorded 1,396 new COVID-19 cases in the seven-day period ending Thursday, August 12, up from 1,178 new cases the previous week.

The testing positivity rate is 32.2 percent, up from 30.4 percent in Okaloosa the previous week.

There were 2,379 vaccinations administered in Okaloosa County during the same period, slightly up from 2,355 the previous week.

About 49 percent of residents aged 12+ are fully vaccinated.

Statewide, the new case positivity rate has risen to 19.3 percent, slightly up from 18.9 percent the previous week.

The FDOH reports 275 deaths this past week, up from 175.
