The Friends of the Niceville Public Library will sponsor “Astronomy For Everyone” with popular astronomer and NASA consultant, Dr. Kevin Manning. Come be part of the 2016 Star Tour! This exciting family program will be held in the Niceville Community Center, 204 Partin Drive N., on Thursday, February 4, from 6 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
Dr. Manning is a gifted astronomer, having worked as a consultant with NASA, the Chandra X-Ray Observatory launched on the space shuttle with the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, and other ground-based observatories. He won national and international awards in his field, was both a Wright Fellow and an Einstein Fellow, and did some work with Brookhaven National Laboratory.
Those in attendance will enjoy an educational and entertaining exploration of the universe, the stars and other celestial wonders. There will be an awesome indoor presentation which will continue outdoors to view celestial objects in the night sky through a powerful hand-crafted telescope, such as the ice crystal rings of Saturn, craters on the Moon, etc., weather permitting.
