April 21 COVID-19, vaccination report for Okaloosa, Niceville

NICEVILLE, Fla — The Florida Department of Health on Wednesday reported 22 newly confirmed COVID-19 cases in Okaloosa County. There are five new cases in Niceville and Valparaiso.

The FDOH reports 555 vaccinations were administered in Okaloosa County the previous day. The cumulative number of people vaccinated in Okaloosa is 57,130. The number of people who have completed the vaccination series in Okaloosa is 39,288, according to FDOH data.

The cumulative number of COVID-19 cases in Okaloosa is 20,215.

The FDOH reports the total number of people killed by COVID-19 in Okaloosa is 359, no change since the previous report.

Statewide, 5,571 new cases were reported by the FDOH. The current cumulative total is 2,184,354. The total number of Florida residents who have died from COVID-19 in the state is 34,616.

The cumulative number of hospitalizations in Okaloosa is 727, four since the previous day. Currently, there are 13 COVID-19 patients in Okaloosa County hospitals.

According to the FDOH, since the previous report, there were 371 test results returned in Okaloosa with 22 positives. The daily positivity rate is 5.93 percent.

According to the FDOH, Okaloosa’s weekly positivity rate is 7.34 percent for the week ending April 18, up from 5.81 percent the previous week.

Florida’s current weekly positivity rate is 10.22 percent  (7-day moving average) according to Johns Hopkins University Coronavirus Resource Center data.
