April 19 COVID-19 cases update includes second death in Okaloosa

The Florida Department of Health reports this morning that Okaloosa County has recorded its second COVID-19 death. The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Okaloosa County is 131, five more since Saturday morning. The number of confirmed cases in Niceville remains at 18. The individual who died, which was confirmed today, was a 90-year-old man.

NICEVILLE, Fla — The Florida Department of Health reports this morning that Okaloosa County has recorded its second COVID-19 death. The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Okaloosa County is 131, five more since Saturday morning. The number of confirmed cases in Niceville remains at 18.

The individual who died, which was confirmed today, was a 90-year-old man.

The number of confirmed cases involving residents or staff at long-care nursing facilities is 26, one more since Saturday morning. According to the FDOH, there are two long-term care facilities in Okaloosa County that have or had confirmed COVID-19 cases: Fort Walton Rehabilitation Facility, and The Manor At Blue Water Bay (Editor’s note: The state removed The Manor at Blue Water Bay from the list on April 20). The number of hospitalizations in Okaloosa increased from 23 to 24 since Saturday morning.

To date, 1,643 tests have been performed in Okaloosa County.
