Aid Society scholarship opportunity available now

EGLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. — The Air Force Aid Society’s annual scholarship opportunity is available now through April 30.

Eligible Air and Space Force spouses and dependent candidates can apply online for the General Arnold Education Grant that awards $500 to $4000 based on need.

Applicants also have access to two the Merit Scholarship and the supplemental education loan program.

Here are some of the requirements and information about the three opportunities.

General Arnold Education Grant

  • Awards range from $500 to $4000 based on need
  • Must have a minimum 2.0 GPA
  • Will be enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student

Merit Scholarship

  • Minimum of 10 scholarships of $5,000 each
  • Apply for the Arnold Education Grant as a first-time freshman with verifiable GPA of 4.0
  • Eligible applicants will be contacted directly by AFAS in June for additional application requirements (essay, transcript, etc.)

Supplemental education loan program

  • Interest-free loans up to $1,000 per student
  • Apply for the Arnold Education Grant; document out-of-pocket education expenses; repay allotment over 12 months
  • Eligible applicants will be contacted directly by AFAS in August with application forms
