NICEVILLE, Fla. — A full-scale active shooter exercise will be held this week at Northwest Florida State College in Niceville, the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office has announced.
The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO), in conjunction with the college, will facilitate the full-scale active shooter exercise starting Tuesday at 9 a.m. at one of the buildings on the Niceville campus.
The exercises continue through August 5, the OCSO said.
Sheriff’s deputies, police officers, firefighters, multiple local and state agencies, and school personnel will be participating in the various exercises. Plans for the exercise have been ongoing for the past few months, the OCSO said.
The OCSO is alerting residents that the activities and enhanced Law Enforcement presence on NWFSC campus are part of a drill and not an immediate threat.
OCSO school resource officers will also be training on Tuesday at Bluewater Elementary School and at the college on Wednesday, the OCSO said.
