NICEVILLE, Fla. — The 2022 Field of Valor flag display, which pays tribute to Florida service members who lost their lives while serving in Afghanistan or Iraq, opens on September 10 in Niceville.
Hosted by The Exchange Club of Niceville in partnership with the Fisher House of the Emerald Coast, the 9th Annual Field of Valor is September 10-17, 2022, at the Mullet Festival grounds. There is no admission charge.
The Field of Valor honors service members from Florida that have been killed in action while serving in Afghanistan or Iraq since September 11, 2001. It consists of more than 350 large American flags, measuring 3 feet by 5 feet and mounted on 8-foot poles.
The flags are displayed in perfect rows and columns on the grassy field at the north end of the Mullet Festival grounds in Niceville.
Each flag bears the name of a service member who gave his or her life while stationed in Afghanistan or Iraq.
The display is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on September 10, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. from Sept. 11 to Sept. 16, and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sept. 17, according to the club.
An opening ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. on Sept. 10.
The Mullet Festival grounds is at 598 State Road 85 North. Look for the sign at the north entrance.
