The 2014 Heroes with Heart gala event will be held Feb. 22, 2014 to honor first responders – firefighters, police officers, paramedics and others – who went above and beyond the call of duty in Escambia, Santa Rosa and Okaloosa counties. It will take place from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Hurlburt Soundside Club near Fort Walton Beach. It will include a silent auction, dinner and awards.
To buy tickets or to help sponsor the event or donate an item to the silent auction, please visit www.tip-ser.org and click on the red heart or call (850) 554-8417.
The event is sponsored by the Northwest Florida Chapter of the Trauma Intervention Program, a group of trained volunteers who give emotional and practical support to traumatized people immediately after tragedy strikes. TIP volunteers respond to calls from hospital personnel, police officers, firefighters, and paramedics day or night. They help family members confronted with natural or unexpected deaths; crime victims; disoriented or lonely older persons; victims of vehicle accidents; and anyone emotionally traumatized by a crisis event. Volunteers range in age from teens to senior citizens.
