DOOLITTLE PARK
LOCATION: John Sims Parkway on the border of Valparaiso and Niceville, Valparaiso FL

  • Doolittle Park is a 1.2-acre park named after General James “Jimmy” Doolittle, the American aviation pioneer who led the legendary bombing mission over Japan. The crews for that mission trained at local fields. This park is in remembrance of all of those who have served in our military. It is quiet, shady and peaceful.

 

EGLIN AIR FORCE BASE RESERVATION
ADMISSION FEE: Permit Required

  • The Eglin Air Force Base Reservation, part of which is adjacent to Niceville, offers 280,000 acres for recreational use. The reservation offers opportunities for camping, hiking, fishing, hunting, biking, blueberry-picking and more. An annual permit is required. Permits are available at Eglin Natural Resources office (the Jackson Guard station), 107 State Road 85 North in Niceville. The office is open Monday-Saturday. Call 882-4164.

 

FLORIDA PARK
LOCATION: Florida Avenue and South Bayshore Dr., Valparaiso FL
HOURS: 7 days, sunrise to sunset; boat ramp is 24/7

  • Located at Florida Avenue and South Bayshore Drive in Valparaiso, Florida Park is a cozy and peaceful  3.5-acre park. Stroll along the concrete and brick walk way to view the dedicated bricks from businesses, friends, and families. Amenities include rest rooms, shower, picnic area, wooden bridge, swings, playground equipment and a 24 hour boat ramp.

 

FRED GANNON ROCKY BAYOU STATE PARK
LOCATION: 4281 State Road 20 (just east of Rocky Bayou Bridge), Niceville FL
HOURS: 7 days, 8 a.m. – sunset
ADMISSION FEE: Yes

  • Fred Gannon Rocky Bayou State Park is a 357-acre state park just outside the Niceville city limits, fronting the eastern shore of Rocky Bayou. The park features a boat ramp, nature trails, picnic area, playground, camping, and kayak and canoe rentals.

GLEN ARGYLE PARK
LOCATION: Located between North Bayshore Drive and Glenview Avenue, Valparaiso FL
HOURS: 7 days, sunrise to sunset

  • Argyle Park is a 4-acre park with paved walkways to accommodate exercising through walking or jogging. Amenities include 1/5 mile concrete walkway, wooden bridge, benches, gazebo with swing, picnic area and rest rooms. Parking is available on north and south ends.

 

HOWARD HILL SOCCER FIELDS
LOCATION: State Road 85 at College Blvd., Niceville FL

  • Soccer fields for league play.

 

KELLY HILL PARK
LOCATION: Kelly Rd., Niceville FL

  • A neighborhood park with a basketball court and swings.

 

KIWANIS PARK
LOCATION: South side of John Sims Parkway near Turkey Creek, Niceville FL
HOURS: 7 days, sunrise to sunset

  • Kiwanis Park is a small roadside waterfront park frequented by walkers. There is no parking other than in the nearby Bayou Plaza Shopping Center. The park features walkways and bench swings with a view of Boggy Bayou, and a boardwalk that extends over the bayou along the mouth of turkey creek.

 

LINCOLN PARK
LOCATION: 1230 North Bayshore Drive fronting Boggy Bayou, Valparaiso FL
HOURS: 7 days, sunrise to sunset; Boat ramp open 24/7.

  • Lincoln Park is a beautiful 6.5-acre waterfront park on Boggy Bayou in Valparaiso. Lincoln Park offers a swimming area with docks, picnic area, rest rooms, showers, playground equipment and a 24/7 boat ramp. The City of Valparaiso hosts its annual 4th of July celebration in Lincoln Park.

 

LIONS PARK
LOCATION: Bayshore Drive fronting Boggy Bayou south of 27th Street, Niceville FL
HOURS: 7 days, sunrise 11 p.m.; boat ramp is 24/7

  • Lions Park is a lovely two-acre park on Boggy Bayou with two boat ramps, pavilions, tables, and benches.

 

MARION RUCKEL RECREATIONAL FACILITY
LOCATION: Corner of Lincoln Avenue and Nordberg Avenue, Valparaiso FL
HOURS:

  • The Marion Ruckel Recreational Facility provides fun for all ages. Sports enthusiasts will enjoy the variety of areas dedicated to specific sports. Amenities include swings, playground equipment, picnic areas, volleyball court, tennis court and basketball courts.

 

MEIGS PARK
LOCATION: Park Ave. and Davis Dr., Niceville FL
HOURS: Open 7 days, sunrise to dark

  • A neighborhood park featuring 3 tennis courts, playground equipment, basketball courts, and utility fields

 

NICEVILLE DOG PARK
LOCATION: Intersection of State Road 85 and College Blvd. Adjacent to the Mullet Festival grounds, Niceville FL
HOURS: Open 7 days, opens at dawn; lights out promptly at 10 p.m. Open year round except for the two weeks prior to the Mullet Festival, which begins on the third Friday in October and ends on the following Sunday.

  • The City of Niceville’s Dog Park is a four-acre shaded area adjacent to the Mullet Festival grounds at the intersection of Hwy 85 N and College Blvd.

NICEVILLE CHILDREN’S PARK AND SPRAY PARK
LOCATION: 204 N. Partin Drive, Niceville FL
HOURS: Seasonal (see Children’s Park page)

  • The Niceville Children’s Park is a fun, happy and safe place for children to play. Youngsters enjoy sandboxes complete with pails and shovels, a bubble machine where a push of a button fills the sky with bubbles, and a large assortment of entertaining and colorful age-appropriate equipment such as slides, monkey bars, rocking dinosaurs, and diggers.

PERRINE PARK
LOCATION: Westview Ave, Valparaiso FL
HOURS: 7 days, sunrise to sunset

  • Located in historic district on Westview Avenue, this park was named after Chicago businessman, John B. Perrine who called this region Valparaiso, Spanish word meaning the “vale of paradise.” Shaded by tall pines, Perrine Park sits across the street from the Heritage Museum of Northwest Florida. Amenities include picnic tables and benches. This park hosts a variety of events annually to include Saturday in the park, Yule of yesteryear and Christmas Camp Walton.

 

SHIPYARD POINT PARK
LOCATION: North Bayshore Drive near Lincoln Park, Valparaiso FL
HOURS: 7 days, sunrise to sunset

  • Shipyard Point Park is a  small family-oriented park offering charcoal grills, picnic tables, playground equipment and swings. Shipyard Park is perfect for small groups to host various outdoor events or simply relaxing while enjoying the beautiful surroundings.

 

SPORTS

RAM EAGLE TENNIS CENTER
LOCATION: Ruckel Middle School campus, northwest corner, at the corner of Palm Blvd. and Partin Dr., Niceville FL
HOURS: To be announced (under construction)

  • The Eagle Ram Tennis Center, now under construction on the Ruckel Middle School campus, will feature eight courts, restrooms and a concession stand. The tennis center will be used by Niceville High School and Ruckel Middle School tennis teams, and plans call for public use of the facilities after school hours when the courts are not being used by the schools for practice or matches.

 

T-PIER
LOCATION: North Bayshore Drive, near Lincoln Park, Valparaiso FL
HOURS: Open 24 hours

  • Located on North Bayshore Drive in Valparaiso, the T-Pier fishing pier is popular among area anglers who like to fish in Boggy Bayou. The T-Pier has two cleaning stations, running water and 24 hour rest rooms.

 

TURKEY CREEK NATURE TRAIL PARK
LOCATION: 340 John Sims Parkway, Niceville, FL
HOURS: Open at 6:30 a.m. seven days a week. Closing times are seasonal and are posted at the facility.

  • With a natural cold water creek at its heart, Turkey Creek Nature Trail Park provides the ideal setting to enjoy the natural beauty of Niceville. The 20-acre conservation area features a boardwalk, Nature walk, pavilion, benches, swimming holes, and swimming platforms and steps for easy access in and out of the creek for swimmers.
