Niceville’s Jimmy Wonsick did exactly that in September, 2014, and sent us this photo of his awesome catch, which he released back into the bayou after the picture was taken.
Wonsick, who was fishing from a boat, caught the redfish (also known as red drum) using live shrimp for bait. He was using an open face reel with the bail open, free-lining the shrimp.
Shirk Bayou is located in the southern part of Niceville, south of Bayshore Drive.
Send us your Niceville area fishing photos at firstname.lastname@example.org. Please include your name and where you live, where the fish was caught, what bait you used, and any other info you would like to share about your catch!
