Construction crews plan to begin driving production piles for the SR 85/123 interchange improvement project this week. Beginning Tuesday, April 27, workers will begin driving the 24 square inch concrete piles that will support the planned flyover bridge at the SR 85/123 intersection.
The structure will improve traffic conditions at the busy intersection by taking SR 85 northbound traffic up and over the current travel lanes and on to SR 123. The work will further allow for the removal of the traffic signal at the intersection.
The pile driving work will be performed during the daylight hours and is expected to take several weeks to complete. No lane closures will be required.
The production piles will be driven to a depth of approximately 40 feet. The work may result in some minor noise and/or vibration in the immediate vicinity, but it is not expected to impact traffic or nearby commercial or residential properties.
