Arts Center Features Dozen Mega-Hit Broadway & Artist Shows

Season Opens September 26 with Menopause the Musical
Season packages are now available for the largest series ever of Broadway shows and Artist events to appear at the Mattie Kelly Arts Center at Northwest Florida State College in Niceville. The lineup of a dozen national and internationally touring shows is a record for the $25 million performing arts venue and includes award-winning hits such as FIDDLER ON THE ROOF, MENOPAUSE THE MUSICAL, HAIR, and SHREK THE MUSICAL, as well as the National Circus of China in CIRQUE CHINOIS, the international tour of a WOMEN OF IRELAND concert and more.
The priority window for Season Packages and group sales is August 1 to 19, when only season or group packages will be sold. Continuing a popular option started last season, patrons may choose their own selection of five or more national shows for a Custom Season Package to receive a 10% (ten percent) discount off the ticket price of each show. A discount of $5 off per ticket is available for groups of 10 or more tickets to a single show if the group sale is made by a single purchaser. To best serve patrons, packages and group sales must be purchased by phone, mail, or in-person from the Box Office only (packages and discounts are not available by web sales). Individual tickets for all shows go on sale August 20 by web, phone or in-person from the Box office. Purchase tickets online at the Mattie Kelly Arts Center website at www.mattiekellyartscenter.org. Each of the 12 nationally touring shows appears at 7:30 p.m. for one performance only. Individual tickets are $45 each for Broadway events and $35 each for Artist Series events. The 2012-13 Broadway and Artist Season starts September 26 with the wildly popular MENOPAUSE THE MUSICAL -- a hilarious musical parody set to classic tunes from the ‘60s, ‘70s, and ‘80s. The season continues October 11 with the new live-concert experience BROADWAY ROX that celebrates the contemporary musicals of Broadway from the pop and rock genres. The international touring sensation DRUMLINE LIVE appears on November 7 with an explosion of energy and athleticism set to the hottest contemporary hip hop, R&B, and classic Motown tunes, as well as the rousing sounds of the great marching band brass tradition.
A hit for the whole family - SHREK THE MUSICAL, appears on November 19, followed by NUNSET BOULEVARD on November 29, starring Cindy Williams of "Laverne & Shirley" TV fame as Mother Superior. The Tony Award® winning musical FIDDLER ON THE ROOF comes to the Mattie Kelly Arts Center stage on December 3; and direct from Beijing, the National Circus of the People's Republic of China, performs CIRQUE CHINOIS on December 12.
The Mattie Kelly Arts Center season continues in 2013 on January 12 with NEW YORK TENORS, showcasing of some of the world's greatest vocalists. The groundbreaking musical HAIR appears January 30. This electric musical celebration of the turbulent 1960’s and search for peace and love features an extraordinary cast and unforgettable songs such as “Age of Aquarius”, “Let the Sun Shine In”, “Good Morning, Starshine” and more! Parental discretion is advised for this show.
IN THE MOOD on February 2 features a retro 1940's musical with the sensational String of Pearls Big Band Orchestra, vocalists and dancers. An innovative and exciting concert production showcasing Ireland's leading female performers in WOMEN OF IRELAND appears on February 15; and the smash-hit musical comedy ROCK OF AGES appears on April 1 to round out the season with a rock-n-roll love story told through the hits of Journey, Styx, REO Speedwagon, Twisted Sister, and Poison.
The Mattie Kelly Fine and Performing Arts Center is located at 100 College Boulevard on the eastern edge of the Niceville campus of Northwest Florida State College. The center is easily accessible from Interstate 10, coastal communities via the Mid-Bay Bridge in Destin, or State Highways 85 and 285. All the 1,650 seats in the main theater at the Mattie Kelly Arts Center are no more than 90 feet from the stage - making every seat “the best seat in the house," according to Dr. Cliff Herron, executive director for the $25 million state-of-the-art performance venue.
