Twin Cities Hospital has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval™ for its Orthopedic Joint Replacement Program by demonstrating compliance with The Joint Commission’s national standards for health care quality and safety in disease-specific care. This outstanding accomplishment enables Twin Cities Hospital to provide the area’s only Certified Orthopedic Joint Replacement Program. The certification award recognizes Twin Cities Hospital’s dedication to continuous compliance with The Joint Commission’s state-of-the-art standards. Twin Cities Hospital underwent a rigorous on-site survey in June 2011 by a Joint Commission expert surveyor who evaluated Twin Cities Hospital for compliance with standards of care specific to the needs of patients and families, including infection prevention and control, leadership, and medication management.

“Achieving Joint Commission certification in our Orthopedic Joint Replacement Program, for our organization, supports our never ending pursuit of excellence and continuous improvement of the care we provide,” says David Whalen, CEO. “This certification ensures we’ve made a significant investment in quality on an everyday basis from the top down. This provides us a framework to take Twin Cities Hospital to the highest level of patient care and helps create a culture of excellence nurtured by our physicians and nurses.”

The Joint Commission’s Disease-Specific Care Certification Program is designed to evaluate clinical programs across the continuum of care. Certification requirements address three core areas: compliance with consensus-based national standards, effective use of evidence-based clinical practice guidelines to manage and optimize care, and an organized approach to performance measurement and improvement activities.
