Mid-Bay Rotary Club recently showed their support to Children in Crisis, Inc. by renewing their membership in the CIC Kid’s Club for the third consecutive year. Members of the CIC Kid’s Club donate $1,000 annually to help feed, clothe and care for the abused, neglected and abandoned children of our community.
Harold Peek, Mid-Bay Rotary President and Frank McCarty, Mid-Bay Rotary Community Service Director, presented the donation to Ken Hair, CIC Executive Director, at the April membership meeting with about 50 members in attendance. President Peek also pledged the group’s continued support to the kids living at the CIC Children’s Neighborhood.
Ken Hair commented, “Before CIC built the Children’s Neighborhood, our community didn’t have an emergency shelter for young children removed from an unsafe home on short or no notice. Our foster homes help with the severe shortage of homes in our community and also prevents many children from being placed in an over capacity situation. Brother and sister sibling families are kept together and safe.”
The CIC Children’s Neighborhood has provided a home to about 150 at-risk foster children since opening in 2008. Children in Crisis, Inc. is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) charity of caring people from the community.
