CAREER & TECHNICAL EDUCATION INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (IT) FORUM April 16, 2010

Northwest Florida State College (NWFSC) will host the first Career and
Technical Education Information Technology (IT) Forum on Friday, April
16 at 5:00 pm in the Robert E. Greene, Jr. Science building on the
Niceville campus in the main lecture hall, building "S", room 110. The
event free of charge and is sponsored by NWFSC's Office of Workforce
Education, Career Resource Center, and Business Division.

Walton County School District Career Development Center and Florida A&
M's S.T.A.R.S. Alliance will discuss/demonstrate their current IT and IS
programs of study. Area IT professionals will participate in a panel
discussion to highlight their career paths and provide feedback to the
audience.

The event is a great opportunity for high school and college students,
as well as members of the public, to learn about the current trends in
Information Technology and Information Science and to help develop an
individual plan for future career success. Participants will be exposed
to a variety of careers in the field of technology. The Florida Agency
for Workforce Innovation has predicted that Network System/Data
Communications Analysts and Computer Software Engineers will be the top
two fast growing careers in the IT industry with an annual percentage
growth rate over 4 percent.

Those who are interested in further career exploration may
also visit the NWFSC Career Resource Centers (CRC) on the Niceville
campus in building C-2 or at the college's Chautauqua Center in DeFuniak
Springs. The CRC locations offer a variety of career assessment
including CareerScope, FOCUS, and Keirsey. The CRC also conducts
workshops on resume writing, interviewing techniques, job search
assistance, and more. For more information, contact the NWF State
College Office of Workforce Education at 729-5202 or CRC@nwfsc.edu.
