View Full Version : Science Friday Seminar, “What is HPV?”

The Science Friday seminars hosted by the Science Department at Northwest Florida State College continue on Friday, February 19at 11:00 am in the Robert E. Greene, Jr. Science building on the Niceville campus in the main lecture hall, room S-110. Dr. Michael Hennessey will present “What is HPV?” This presentation will discuss the human papillomavirus and recent advances in cervical cancer research and the impact that HPV vaccination has had on reducing number of women affected by cervical cancer.

Dr. Hennessey is a Doctor of Obstetrics and Gynecology with the Northwest Florida OB/GYN Office. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Central Oklahoma and an MD from the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine. He completed a residency program through the University of Florida College of Medicine, where he was awarded the award for Outstanding Chief Resident. His work has been published in the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology and he is a diplomat of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

The free series is open to the public as well as NWF State College students or high school students. Groups should call ahead to ensure seating. Other seminars this semester include Dr. Kirk Rowe, a neuropsychologist at Eglin AFB on April 16 about “The Psychology of Climate Change: Mining Human Intellect & Ingenuity”.
