PIONEER DAY IS NOVEMBER 1 AT FRED GANNON ROCKY BAYOU STATE PARK

Park Event: PIONEER DAY

When: Saturday, November 1, 10:00 to 2:00

Where: Fred Gannon Rocky Bayou State Park, Hwy 20

Lots of hands-on activities have been added to this fall’s FREE event on November 1st from 10:00 until 2:00, including quilting, weaving, native plant walks and basket weaving.

Learn about the archaeology done in this area. The Florida Public Archaeology Network will be demonstrating “ground penetrating radar” and has offered to identify any personal artifacts you bring to the event.

Bring a picnic and lawn chairs! Your family can settle down and listen to dulcimer music, Native American flute playing or pioneer tales. Then you can check out soap-making, campfire cooking and pioneer tool use near our restored chuckwagon!

This community educational event is sponsored by the Friends of Emerald Coast State Parks in partnership with the Heritage Museum of Northwest Florida

The park is located off Highway 20, just east of the Rocky Bayou bridge. For more information call the park at 850-833-9144.
